Thanks a Lot, United Kingdom.

So I've been trying to drive more traffic to Mall of Erotica as it is the area I am most lacking in. I was running an ad campaign on Naked Experiment when I was informed that one of the users couldn't get to my site. It turns out that some ludicrous new practices by ISPs in the UK have all ISP subscribers blocked from websites that contain "inappropriate content" as defined by some unknown authority under the guise of "protecting children" because apparently parents are too stupid/clueless to educate and monitor their childrens' use of Internet technologies.

You can get yourself unblocked, but that basically means going to your ISP to prove your 18+ and request the block removed, thus implying you are going to view pornography even if you just want access to some of the blocked information (even if it isn't pornography related), such as sex education, support for pornography addiction, support for rape & domestic abuse, suicide prevention, drug advice, etc.

While I understand and support the desire to protect children I don't think killing unfettered access to any information on the Internet is the right path to take. The Internet is the closest form of pure universal freedom of speech that humanity has yet to attain, and people afraid of what knowledge will do to others should not be the ones deciding what people get to access.

Oh well. I guess a bunch of people won't be able to click on the ad I paid for.

Thanks, UK.
