Today's entry is about some sad personal news: my father died unexpectedly in his sleep last month. He wasn't ill, there was no warning, my mother didn't even wake up until the morning to find him dead beside her. It was the first death in my family. The entire family is in shock and I've tried my best to hold everything and everyone together. Just about everything else in my life has ground to a halt while I help deal with his estate and try to wrap my head around the reality that my father isn't there anymore.
He was a very religious person and a champion of the downtrodden and abused. I'm sure he wouldn't be too happy if he had found out about
Mall of Erotica, but this is where my life has lead me and as long as nobody is hurt by my site I will continue to be proud of it and develop it.
I realize that in the adult industry people are reduced to one-dimensional caricatures based on whatever fetish is the theme, but that is the nature of all entertainment; porn just has a bad reputation because of the taboo nature of sexuality. We have no problem accepting one-dimensional heroes, villains, protagonists or antagonists in mainstream media. Oddly enough, we have no problem with the stereotypical lecherous person who simply wants to have sex with as many people as possible; as long as it isn't outright porn the reduction of those actors and actresses to vapid and shallow roles is perfectly acceptable.
At the end of the day however, actors and actresses are all people like the rest of us, whether they are Oscar winners or homemade porn stars. They have hopes and dreams, beliefs and rituals. They go the bathroom, get sick, gain and lose weight, and grow old. They have loved ones enter their lives and they have loved ones leave their lives.
To all you out there in the erotica and porn community who have lost someone close like I have, my condolences. I wish you all nothing but peace and happiness in your journeys.
In the meantime I must pick up and continue along, though I have little motivation to do so. Last week the first serious female I had interested in doing modeling work backed out, which is unfortunate.
